Flight delays and rerouting

December 10th, 2007

Low ceiling in Newark caused the tightly coupled logistics of Continental airlines to fail - in the end making me miss my Hong Kong flight.

At first glance, the only option was to wait a whole day for the same flight tomorrow - however they’re bumping me around on various airlines, so instead of a direct flight from Newark to Hong Kong, I now get to take a 6-hour flight to LAX, and then a 15-hour flight to Hong Kong.

The end result is that I get into HKG at 7:45AM instead of 9PM, not really that big of a deal. The fact that I’m spending the 11-hour difference sitting in airports and airplanes is a deal. Wondering what kind of sleep I’ll be able to get on the plane.

I did get to hit up a borders and pick up a good historical fiction book set in China titled “The Good Earth” by Pearl S. Buck. Looking forward to it on the 21-hours of flying.

Getting ready to leave Detroit

December 9th, 2007

Getting ready to leave on another big trip and I find myself instead toying with technology (namely, creating neat things with this blog and utilizing GeoPress).

Tomorrow this time (or some time, depending on timezones) I’ll be in Hong Kong, at the start of a great adventure.
